Spirit School & the Case of the Frizzed-Out Aura

A Lesson in Grounding, Humor, and Staying Human

Last night was another restless one. I’d done all my bedtime rituals — grounding, clearing, gratitude, the works. I even asked the guides to smooth the energy so I could sleep. Yet there I was, wide-eyed and humming with electricity.

When I finally slipped into dream-state, I found myself on a school bus — not sure if I was driving or riding, only that there was tension in the air. It felt like being both teacher and student at the same time. Later, when I woke and replayed it, the message was clear: I’m still learning how to ride the energy, not be driven by it.

Apparently, I passed that class with extra credit for enthusiasm because when I asked Spirit for help settling down, what I saw was straight out of a cartoon.

I looked like one of those characters surrounded by crackling static — all fuzzy edges and tiny lightning bolts. Every hair on my etheric body was standing on end. ⚡️

I called for Merlin, my ever-patient (and occasionally too-amused) guide. He chuckled — I could feel it in the air — he sent over a few of my little energy helpers. The moment they touched me, they puffed up like startled cats! Poof! Each one turned into a round ball of frizz. I could almost hear their indignant squeaks.

Apparently, even my helpers weren’t insulated for this much charge.

Merlin found it hilarious. Me? Not so much.

So he took me to my factory — that inner place where my energy gets processed and balanced. The “workers” there stopped what they were doing, stared at the static ball that was me, and started giggling. Imagine a whole assembly line of giggling spirits. I crossed my arms (or tried to, since I was basically all frizz) and told Merlin this was not funny.

He handed me my staff, the one topped with a glowing orb, and said calmly, “You know how to use this. Ground the energy”

So I focused on the orb, trying to gather the loose sparks. When that only half-worked, he nodded toward a quiet room off the main floor. The kind you see in the movies with glass walls and everyone watching. I stepped in, planted my feet, lifted the staff high, and brought it down with a solid thud.

The energy fell away like iron filings from a magnet.

Silence. Peace. Just me again — no frizz, no sparks, no giggling workforce.

The Lesson

The school bus and the static go together, don’t they?

Both were about learning to manage the current — the excitement that comes from doing good, deep work. The reading had gone beautifully, but my body hadn’t yet learned how to store success without staying lit up like a live wire.

Spirit, as always, chose humor as my textbook.

Sometimes our lessons arrive wrapped in thunderclouds and insight. Other times, they show up with puffed-up helpers and a chuckling wizard. Either way, the point is the same: learn, ground, and keep the joy.

By morning, the static had settled and so had I. Energy work, it seems, comes with its own learning curve — and sometimes its own comic relief. Spirit doesn’t just teach through silence and serenity; it teaches through giggles, puffballs, and those nights when we glow a little too bright. I’m learning that staying human is part of staying grounded. A laugh, a deep breath, and maybe a cup of tea — that’s all it takes to bring the light back into balance.
